Diabetes Secondary

The secondary diabetes term is used when diabetes developed to some other diseases and treatment of these diseases decrease the hyperglycaemia. In diabetes secondary, Some health conditions occur in the body and due to these conditions, pancreas stopped to produce insulin in the body.

Diabetes is a silent killer disease. Diabetic person must control his sugar level in the body, after diagnosis the diabetes and must start treatment as well under the advises of physician and principals of medical science and must not ignore, otherwise it is very harmful for human body and life as well.

Human body needs insulin to provide energy to the all parts of body through bloodstream. In diabetes the pancreas does not produce insulin or produces insufficient insulin, further diabetes is a disease that affects your body’s ability to produce or use insulin. When we eat foods or any energetic drinks our body turns that foods or drink into energy.

Role of Insulin

insulin a hormone, drives the energy to cells of whole body through circulation in bloodstream. When insulin drive energy to the body cells. The body cells accept and receive the energy. In case of the pancreas produces less or unable to produce insulin or in any reason the body could not utilize the insulin, the blood sugar level remain high in the body.

Blood glucose levels remain higher than normal for individuals called diabetes. There are some causes whose are directly affect the insulin production and are causes of hyperglycaemia like obesity and genetics. Sometimes some conditions effect body organs and be causes diabetes.

In diabetes secondary Some health conditions occur in the body and due to these conditions pancreas stopped to produce insulin in the body.
A lot of health conditions and complications can be developed due to secondary diabetes. The secondary diabetes term is used when diabetes developed to some other diseases and treatment of these diseases decrease the hyperglycaemia.

Health conditions which can cause diabetes Secondary include:

Cystic fibrosis
Hemochromatosis
Chronic pancreatitis
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
Cushing’s syndrome
Pancreatitis
Pancreatectomy
Pancreatic diseases
Drugs & Chemical induced
Liver diseases
Chronic renal failure
Cystic Fibrosis

What is cystic Fibrosis?

Body provides many type of fluids to avoid the body from dryness. Sometimes, this fluid gather a spot and makes a cystic. Cystic Fibrosis is a disease in which sticky mucus build up in any area in the body and damages the organs.
It is found that these secreted fluids looks like thin and smooth. The purpose of this fluid in the body is to keep the bod parts lubricant. This fluid keeps the body protect from dryness and infection inside the joints.

Cystic Fibrosis effect the following organs;–

lungs
pancreas
liver
intestines

How Cystic fibrosis effects the pancreas and insulin production

In the body the various parts produce various enzymes. Further various body organs produce sweat, mucus, and digestive enzymes in the body. Cystic fibrosis affects the cells that produce sweat, mucus, and digestive enzymes in the body. Further production of enzymes, the pancreas also produces a hormone named insulin who help to keep blood glucose level normal.

Over time, the build-up Cystic fibrosis, this enzyme begins to destroy the pancreas by break down pancreatic tissue. Due to this destruction the pancreas stopped to produce insulin. Further various body organs produce sweat, mucus, and digestive enzymes in the body. Cystic fibrosis affects the cells that produce sweat, mucus, and digestive enzymes in the body.

Hemochromatosis

Hemochromatosis is a disease in which too much iron stored the body specially in the liver. Iron is a mineral found in many things like fruits and vegetables. Presence of iron in the body is essential for better health but too much iron is toxic to your body. Due to any unknown reason, Iron can build up in any body part and make them unable to act its job. Mostly it build up in liver, pancreas and heart.

If the iron stored in the pancreas for some time it leads to diabetes. Symptoms of Hemochromatosis develop between the age of 40 to 60 in the men, whereas in the women symptoms of Hemochromatosis develop after menopause. Hemochromatosis is a genetic and develop due to excess iron, if remain untreated for long time, can harm body joints, body organs, and eventually be fatal.

Hemochromatosis develop when human body absorbs too much iron from the foods. Extra iron stored in the body organs, specially in liver and pancreas. remaining loaded extra iron in the body is life threatening conditions. This condition can develop liver disease, heart problem and diabetes because extra iron in the body may cause diabetes.

Hemochromatosis develop many physical problems and diseases; –

Diabetes
Impotence
Heart Failure
Liver Failure

By the time being the iron build up and effects the other body organs like liver, heart and pancreas and cause some secondary diseases like joint pain heart stroke and diabetes. Hemochromatosis (build up too much iron in the pancreas) increases the risk for Diabetes mellitus.

Chronic pancreatitis

What Is Pancreatitis?
Pancreas is an important organ located behind the stomach in the body. The pancreas produces enzymes, which are special proteins. The proteins help the foods to digest and also produces insulin to help the blood sugar to keep the level normal. Sometimes the pancreas become ill due to any type of inflammation. This condition called Pancreatitis. If this condition remains unhealed for long time, this condition called Chronic Pancreatitis.

Abusing alcohol and smoking increase the risk of developing pancreatitis and sometimes family pancreatitis background also increase the brisk of pancreatitis. Due to chronic Pancreatitis many complications developed in the various body organs. Incessant pancreatitis can lead to permanent scarring and harm.

Causes of pancreatitis
Calcium stones and cysts may develop in the pancreas, which can block the duct, or tube, that carries digestive enzymes and insulin hormone to the stomach. Due to this insulin blockage the blood sugar level started to become high and may cause the risk of diabetes. Sometimes due to insulin and enzyme pancreatic duct blockage, the gallstones or pancreatic stones develop in the pancreas and become cause diabetes.

The pancreatitis put side effects on pancreas and damage the cells that produce the insulin who control the blood sugar level. This situation increases the blood sugar level. About 50% persons will get diabetes of Persons suffering from chronic pancreatitis.

Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome

Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome is a disease that usually appear in women between the age of 15 to 45. This hormonal disorder condition occurs among women only. In this condition women usually experience many hormonal problems especially menstrual periods problem or excess male hormone level. In this disease the ovaries are unable to release eggs regularly. Due to this reason it is harder for them to get pregnant.

There is a very close relation between polycystic ovaries syndrome and insulin resistance. Mostly the pre-diabetes symptoms appeared in women who having polycystic ovaries syndrome problem. It is possible that too much androgen level in the PCOS condition may can cause insulin resistance.

Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome may can cause some secondary diseases or complications; –

Gestational diabetes
Type 2 diabetes or prediabetes
Sleep apnea
Depression,
anxiety and eating disorders
Initially only pre-diabetes symptoms appeared in any individual but later some individuals can be gaining extra weight and then increased the risk of insulin resistance and symptoms of diabetes type 2.

Pancreatitis
Pancreatitis is another cause of secondary diabetes. Due to Pancreatitis the risk of secondary diabetes may can increase.

What is Pancreatitis?
Due to any reason sometime the pancreas becomes inflamed. This condition called Pancreatitis. In the pancreatitis many disorder occur in the pancreas. Pancreatitis occurs when digestive enzymes become activated while still in the pancreas, irritating the cells of your pancreas and causing inflammation.

There are many causes of pancreatitis some are under.

Too much alcohol consumption

The person takes too much alcohol in a day, having two or more than two alcoholic drinks in a day can develop inflammation for the individual.
The pancreas produces enzymes that help digestion and insulin that help regulate the way your body sugar (glucose) level under control.

Sometime with any reason gallstones formed in the dockets between pancreas and stomach. These gallstones blocked the dockets and due to this blockage, enzyme and insulin cannot reach to the stomach. Due to this gallstones presence the pancreatitis occurred.

Some other causes for pancreatitis

Hypertriglyceridemia
An autoimmune response
Genetic mutation of MCP-1 gene
Oestrogens
Corticosteroids
Thiazide diuretics

Pancreatitis and diabetes

In the condition of chronic pancreatitis, the risk of diabetes increased. According to the medical scientists that around 50 per cent of people with chronic pancreatitis will go on to develop diabetes. Pancreatitis causes diabetes by affecting the insulin production. If the amount of insulin reduced or increased than requirement then symptoms of pre-diabetes can have appeared. Forms of diabetes caused by pancreatitis is referred secondary diabetes.

Cushing syndrome

Various glands in human body produce many hormones like insulin and cortisol. Cortisol could be a important endocrine for flesh. ductless gland produces the adrenal cortical steroid endocrine United Nations agency plays numerous very important roles within the body. The adrenal cortical steroid helps to stay vital sign traditional and vascular system functioning usually.

When adrenal gland produces high quantity of cortisol then Cushing syndrome occur in the body. Cushing syndrome, sometimes called hypercortisolism, may be caused by the use of oral portico steroid medication.

The condition can also occur when your body makes too much cortisol on its own. Due to high level production cortisol in the body for the long time many complications develop in side and on the body. These complications may be including; -Fatty hump between your shoulders. Pink or purple stretch marks High blood pressure.
