1:-Bhein (Bhee) curry
The bhein (bhee) also Getting out from the lotus roots from the river banks near the head tarimoon on the Chenab river in Jhang. Its roots to be preset 2 to 3 feet in the depth of river water. The people get out its roots from water and brought to the fruit and vegetable market and sold it. The food shop owners purchase it from fruit market and prepare various dishes pf it and sell them in the shops. Curious people like this dish too much. Bhein (bhee) is Souvenirs and gift of Jhang.
Jhang Delicious Dishes
Recipe of Bhein (Bhee) curry
2 madium size stalks bhee ( lotus stem)
4 small onions grated
1 teaspoon garlic ground
5 Black pepper corns
Green chillies to taste
1 tsp ginger grated
2 Big cardamoms
2 tomotos grated
2 cloves healthy
1 small stick cinnamon
1 tsp coriander chopped
0.50 tsp garam masala powder
1 tsp dhania powder (coriander
0.50 tsp turmeric powder
0.50 tsp jeera powder (cumin)
1 cup water
2 tsp ghee or oil
salt to taste
1 potato (Optional)
Clean the bhee (lotus roots) very well in the clean water and remove the soil around the bhee. After clean dry it. Peel the bhee and slice into 1 inch size slices.
Boil these slices in the turmeric and salt mix water till tender. When became tender drain from the water and keep the silices aside.
Put the ghee in the pan put the pan on the flam. When the ghee become hot put all the spices tn the ghee and allow to splutter.
After splutter the spices, add ginger and garlic and fry for a minute. Add onion and fry onion till light golden.
Pure some water in the pan to smooth the onion.
Now add all spices and tomoto and fry them till tomoto melted and oil became seperate.
This is the time to add boiled bhee and pototo in the pan and fry the bhee and pototo till become fry and smooth.
The bhee recipe is ready to serve. You can serve to the guests hot with paratha or rice.
Bhein (Lotus Stems) Pakory
Bhein is also a very healthy and nutritious vegetable. It contains a large amount of calcium, Which is useful in blood pressure. People make different kinds of dishes from it as bhein curry, bhein pakory and bhein soup. All Dishes of bhein are healthy and Delicious. In the winter season, the people specially like to eat its pakory.
Here we are presenting the bhein recipe
Basen (gram flour) = 500 grams
Bhein (lotus stems) = 1/2 kg or 12 to 15 pieces
Salt = 1 tsm
Red chili powder = 1 tsm
Dry mango powder = 1 tsm
Cumin seed = 1 tsm
Ajwain = 1 tsm
Oil in paste = 2 tsm
Veneger = 1 tsm
Note :- Make the powder all these spices in the grinder and mix them well to good taste.
Clean the bhee (lotus roots) very well in the clean water and remove the soil around the bhee. After clean dry it.
Cut the bhein in round peices and boil them in the turmeric and salt mix water till tender.
Put the gram flour in the big bowl and pure the water in it, prepare the batter.
Mix all spices in the prepared batter and mix them well.
Take the peices of bhein one by one and coat gram flour batter around the peices.
Keep all the gram flour coated peices in the greased foil plate.
Place the pan on the burner and add the oil. Heat the oil well.
Put the gram flour coated peices in the pan and cook them well.
When cooked and became dark brown, remove from the pan.
Delicious bhein pakory are ready.
Arrange on a plate and Serve hot with chutney or sauce.
